Johnson currently serves as an aeromedical evacuation technician in the 142nd Airlift Squadron, but was nominated for the award while a member of the 142nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. He has been selected for training as a flight engineer in his new unit.
He has deployed to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar and has served as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of medical equipment for the 142nd AES.
During his acceptance speech he spoke of the importance of the village in raising a child. “This award looks at the individual, but it has made me look at the village. From where I stand, both the individual and the village are one and the same. Always Forward!”
