    Story by Steven Stover

    U.S. Army Cyber Command

    Hometown: Southbury, Conn.
Military Occupational Specialty: Cyberspace Operations Specialist (MOS 17C)
Duty position: Tool developer, D Company, 781st Military Intelligence Battalion (Cyber), Fort George G. Meade, Md.

    QUICK SKETCH:
-- Completed the Joint Cyber Analysis Course, Certified Ethical Hacker, and the SEC401 course, which introduces attendees to the critical components of network security.
-- Graduate of the Tool Developers’ Qualification Course a program taught in partnership with
University of Maryland Baltimore College that produces computer programmers for the U.S. Army
-- Future goals are to earn a degree in software engineering and become a developer and Army Cyber warrant officer

ON WHY HE CHOSE THE ARMY AND THE CYBER MOS:
“I chose the Army for a career where I can improve myself and do something meaningful. I chose Army Cyber so I could develop technical expertise and receive the education I need to be proficient in a very difficult and important field.”

ON WHAT HE WOULD TELL SOMEONE CONSIDERING ARMY CYBER:
“The Army will provide you with all the training and education you need to be successful in the cyber field. When I joined the Army I knew little to nothing about computers or cybersecurity, and now I am proficient at hacking and programming in multiple languages. The training pipeline is designed with this in mind. If you work hard you can get more out of one year of Army cyber training than you would from a four-year degree.”

“I would tell someone thinking of joining Army Cyber to forget what you think you know about computers and networking and allow your instructors and mentors to do their job and teach you what you need to know. They are in their position for a reason, and they want to make you and the Army succeed.”

    FAVORITE QUOTE:
“I love Soldiers, I respect their bravery, and equally I demand order and discipline.” By Pyotr Bagration. It shows what sets Army Cyber apart from the private sector, and how we put our Soldiers first while still having high expectations of quality work and discipline.
