The 188th Wing promoted Senior Master Sgt. Brian Anible, to the rank of chief master sergeant during a ceremony held here April 7, 2019.

Anible, who currently serves as the wing staff first sergeant, is a 29-year Air Force veteran, 26 of those spent in the Arkansas Air National Guard.

“Brian Anible is a leader, a mentor, and an inspiration, frankly,” said 188th Wing Commander, Robert I. Kinney. “Whatever it takes, I know he’s there at the ready – and always with a smile.”

Kinney related the long list of projects and positions that Anible has held during his many years in the wing, joking that he was almost out of breath from reading them.

“But you see the pattern,” Kinney said. “Senior Master Sgt. Anible is a tremendous asset to this wing, and it is with great, great pleasure that we promote him today. I know the Airmen of the 188th Wing will continue to look to him for mentoring, advice, and as an example of what it takes to get here.”

Anible gave credit for his success to the many individuals who have influenced him throughout his life.

“How did I get here today? I’m just an average Joe in my book” he said. “But the one thing I do have is heart, and it’s those relationships that I’ve developed with all of you that have helped me get up here. We use the word ‘mentorship’ a lot, and I can’t thank all those mentors who blazed the trail for me, and hopefully I’m doing that for others.”

Anible enlisted in the Air Force in 1987 as an aircraft armament specialist, spending three years on active duty before joining the Arkansas Air National Guard. He has deployed in support of operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Inherent Resolve. He has served as a first sergeant since 2012, first for the 188th Mission Support Group, and then for wing command staff.
