JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. (Apr. 05, 2019) - Effective April 5, 2019, the Defense Travel System boasts new features.

Of these updates, DTS is no longer using WingGate Government Travel System to book transportation arrangements. The system is now serviced by CI Travel and must be reached through a new contact number.

Highlighted changes also include the way travel bookings will be initiated and beginning April 12, 2019, DTS will utilize new labels for expense claims, trip types and purposes.

“Much of the changes are the verbiage associated with creating authorizations and vouchers,” said Senior Master Sgt. Tenisha N. Schexnayder, comptroller flight superintendent, here. For example, the former name listed, “AA-Routine TDY/TAD”, will now be named “Temporary Duty Travel (routine)”.

For further details, DTS users can reference screenshots and look aheads provided on the webpage:

Though the 108th Finance office and Lead Defense Travel Administrators, Schexnayder and Tech. Sgt. David M. Savino, are ready to assist, Schexnayder encourages Airmen to first speak with the organization defense travel administrator, within their unit, for any additional questions.

The changes made by the Defense Travel Management Office are designed to modernize the user experience and align terminology with Joint Travel Regulations.

“With the Air Force constantly evolving, our processes and procedures will evolve as well,” said Schexnayder. As a result, she encourages “DTS users to remain flexible and engaged with the transition and all of the changes, as much as they can”. Staying informed about the resources available, can also help ease frustrations and ensure better familiarity moving forward.
