Springfield, Illinois – Pvt. Drayk Compton, of Litchfield, Illinois, was sworn into the Illinois Army National Guard Feb. 27, at the St. Louis Military Entrance Processing Station.
Compton enlisted as an 11B, Infantryman, and is assigned to Company M, Recruit Sustainment Program in Shiloh, Illinois.
Upon completion of his initial training, Compton will be assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry Regiment.
Compton is a Junior at Litchfield Senior High School and will graduate in 2020.
After successfully completing his training, Compton will be eligible for the Illinois National Guard Grant, which pays 100 percent of college tuition while he works as a full-time student and a part-time Soldier. He will also be eligible for the Select Reserve G.I. Bill and federal tuition assistance.
Sgt. 1st Class Amber Martin congratulated Compton and welcomed him into the Illinois Army National Guard.
Compton will attend U.S. Army Basic Combat Training at Fort Benning, Ga.
He is the son of Jessica Williams and Craig Compton.
