Combat Logistics Company-23 held a company-wide realignment ceremony aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, March 15.
During the ceremony, CLC-23 was realigned from Combat Logistics Regiment 25 to under the direct command of 2nd Maintenance Battalion. Present during the ceremony were the commanding officers and sergeants major of 2nd Maintenance Battalion and CLR-25.
The “Roughnecks” provide field-level maintenance support/facilitate intermediate supply support to Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) units and provide distribution management, postal, and exchange services support to the Marine Corps Air Station and it’s tenant commands.
“We are here to logistically support the needs of Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort and the Marine Aircraft Group,” said 1st Sgt. Adrian Munoz, the company First Sergeant for CLC-23. ”For years the Roughnecks have supported and aided the needs of the Marines aboard the air station day in and day out. This realignment is going to be another notch in the illustrious career of the roughnecks.”
According to their website, 2nd Maintenance Battalion is to provide direct and general support, intermediate maintenance support for Marine Corps furnished tactical ordnance, engineer, motor, communications-electronics and general support equipment of II Marine Expeditionary Force as well as to provide reparable support to include stock, store and fiscal accounting for normal accounting for normal and low-density reparables.
“I know higher headquarters is organizing a special purpose MAGTF for a time frame in the summer,” Munoz said. “One of the many new benefits of being under a different command structure is that the Marines here are going to be able to continue our mission in any clime or place while cementing the legacy of the company.”
According to Marine Corps Order 3120.3, MAGTFs are a balanced air-ground, combined arms task organization of Marine Corps forces under a single commander that is structured to accomplish a specific mission. With this realignment, CLC-23 will gain new capabilities by integrating with a battalion that possesses a similar mindset and can provide greater support to Marines downrange.
“Throughout the course of the realignment of our company, the operational tempo has and will continue to change,” Munoz said. “At the end of the day, the needs of the Marine Corps will always come first and we are going to help maintain and enhance the mission as best as we can.”
