MSW, which coincides with America Saves Week, is an annual recognition of the year-round campaign which seeks to persuade, motivate and encourage military families to save money every month, as well as promote automatic savings.
“Financial readiness is just as important as any of the pillars of Comprehensive Airman Fitness,” said Bruce Knee, 49th Force Support Squadron’s Airman & Family Readiness Center community readiness consultant and personal financial manager. “How can service members do their job if they are worried about their finances?”
The A&FRC encourages all members of Team Holloman to take the Military Saves Pledge.
“By taking the pledge, you are committing or recommitting yourself to saving money, conquering debt and reaching financial goals,” said Knee.
Holloman’s A&FRC is hosting many events for this year’s MSW, February 25-March 3:
· Monday, February 25 -- Saving and Investing Info Fair at the Community Activity Center, 8 a.m. to noon.
· Tuesday, February 26 -- MSW event at the Base Exchange, 9 – 11:30 a.m.
· Tuesday, February 26 -- New Mexico State University savings workshop at the A&FRC, 1 p.m.
· Wednesday, February 27 -- First-term Airman Class MSW event at the A&FRC, 7-11:30 a.m.
· Wednesday, February 27 -- Plan My Move MSW event at the A&FRC, 9 a.m.
· Wednesday, February 27 -- My FICO Credit Score/Report workshop at the A&FRC, 11 a.m. to noon.
· Thursday, February 28 -- Heart Link MSW event, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
· Thursday, February 28 -- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Team Conference at the CAC, 10-11 a.m.
· Friday, March 1 -- Info Fair at the BX, 9-11 a.m.
Sometimes Airmen are unable to attend base events due to mission requirements, which is why the Military Savings Pledge is available electronically this year. Visit www.militarysaves.org for more information.
The A&FRC is available to assist Team Holloman year round with their financial goals and overall readiness.
