The 104th Troop Command held an advancement and promotion ceremony for 13 Virgin Islands National Guard soldiers at the LTC Lionel A. Jackson Armory March 10.
Nine soldiers advanced and four soldiers were promoted.
The soldiers who were advanced are Pvt. Ireishka Santiago, 661st Military Police Detacment, Pvt. Squan Buffong, 662nd Engineer Company, Pfc. Obasi Luke, 662nd Engineer Company, Pfc. Chelsea McFarlane, 662nd Engineer Company, Pfc. Raenesia Matthew, 104th Troop Command, Spc. Shenequa Hector, 661st Military Police Detachment, Spc. Angel Guzman, 662nd Engineer Company, Spc. Jasmine Sanes, 661st Military Police Detachment and Spc. Wayne Scott, 661st Military Police Detachment. The soldiers who were promoted are Sgt. Donnell Samuel, 661st Military Police Detachment, Sgt. Cristina Cruz, Det. 1-114 Aviation, Staff Sgt. Aidza Stapleton, 661st Military Police Detachment and Sgt. 1st Class Kellen Phillips, 661st Military Police Detachment.
Several VING soldiers were also recognized for their participation in Operation Caribbean Thunder and received a Certificate of Appreciation.
Lastly, Spc. Nqwanda Williams, 662nd Engineer Company, received the Army Achievement Medal for service during Joint Forces Headquarters for the Virgin Islands hurricane relief operations from 5 September through 27 October 2017.
