CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (March 8, 2019) – Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi announced that five Sailors have been promoted through the Meritorious Advancement Program (MAP) 2019 Season One.
Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Kevin T. Stearns, San Antonio Detachment; Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Steven P. Kelly, San Antonio Detachment; Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Kelsie Hammac, Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi; Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Carlie A. Kay, Naval Branch Health Clinic Fort Worth and Hospital Corpsman 3rd David M. Tarr, Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi, were each notified by the Triad March 7.
"The promotion is a testament to their perseverance," said NHC Corpus Christi Senior Enlisted Leader, HMCM Andy B. Burnett. "Each has proven to be a top-performing Sailor, and their success is highly reflective of this Command because they continually seek to perform above the bar!"
Meritorious promotion is part of the Navy's ongoing talent management initiatives used to empower the command triad to recognize outstanding Sailors. By advancing new petty officers or adding chevrons to existing petty officers, MAP gives greater authority to commands to better shape their workforce and the Navy by developing and rewarding their best talent.
This is the fourth year Sailors assigned to shore commands have been able to promote through MAP.
Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Kelly E. Bartin, assigned to NHC Corpus Christi Pharmacy, was the very first and the only Sailor from the Command selected for FY 2016 MAP promotion.
In 2017, a total of five Sailors, three from NHC Corpus Christi, one from San Antonio Detachment, and one from Naval Branch Health Clinic Fort Worth were meritoriously promoted.
Last year eight Sailors were MAP promoted, five from NHC Corpus Christi, and one each from San Antonio Detachment, Naval Branch Health Clinics Fort Worth, and Kingsville.
According to Burnett, a pinning ceremony for the newest group is being planned for March 14, and will be announced when the time and location is approved.

NHC Corpus Christi and its Naval Branch Health Clinics at Fort Worth and Kingsville provide ambulatory care services to over 13,000 enrolled beneficiaries comprised of military active duty, their family members, retirees and their family members in South Texas and Dallas/Fort Worth. In addition, the San Antonio Detachment provides primary care services to Navy students at the Medical Education & Training Campus (METC) at Fort Sam Houston, and case management services and medical board management to Navy and Marine Corps Wounded, Ill and Injured Warriors (WII) at San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC).
