TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. – Airmen assigned to the 60th Medical Group at Travis Air Force Base were recognized during the 2018 Air Force Medical Service Annual Awards Feb. 14, 2019.
The 60th Medical Support Squadron Resource Management office was recognized as the U.S. Air Force Resource Management Team of the Year.
Among their many accomplishments, the team revolutionized Veteran Affairs reimbursements and led the Uniform Business Office overhaul, training 85 members on eligibility standards.
“Our team has committed themselves to going above and beyond standard mission requirements to ensure our military members and their dependents receive highly reliable medical care,” said Lt. Col. Amy Fisher, 60th MDSS Resource Management Office flight commander. “Many members in the flight, from the Uniform Business Office, budget, data quality, manpower and others, are consistently sought after for guidance and training, throughout the Air Force Medical Service. Their expertise is truly above par.

“It is up to us as leaders to ensure they know how much it is appreciated,” added Fisher. “They did not ask for this award - they earned it.”

Tech. Sgt. Franklin Dover, 60th Medical Support Squadron NCO in charge of medical equipment management, was recognized as the U.S. Air Force Medical Materiel NCO of the Year.

During 2018 Dover temporarily deployed to Korea. He also supported the Environmental Restoration Program and used his readiness experience to teach young Airmen in his unit.
“Sergeant Dover stood out among the crowd with his professionalism, outstanding customer service, his eagerness to assist others and his proactive behavior when there were problems or things needed to get done,” said Lt. Col. John Decataldo, 60th Medical Support Squadron flight commander of medical logistics. “Since Sergeant Dover has been here in the last year and a half, he’s been an outstanding NCO who we’ve enjoyed and has clearly added value to the team.”
Senior Airman Angela Marino, 60th Medical Diagnostics and Therapeutics Squadron computed tomography technologist, was recognized as the U.S. Air Force Diagnostic Imaging Airman of the Year.
Some of Marino’s 2018 accomplishments included managing a $1.6 million department supply budget and helping to sustain daily operations in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Marino was also one of the lead instructors for the medical group's basic life support program, teaching five classes and helping certify 56 personnel on basic life-saving techniques. Also, obtained her Community College of the Air Force degree in radiologic sciences and from there, she secured her first national certification in radiology.
“I couldn't be any prouder of all the things that Senior Airman Marino has accomplished during her time here at Travis AFB,” said Tech. Sgt. Steven Guerrero, 60th Medical Training Squadron phase two instructor for radiology. “She epitomizes what an ideal Airman should be, and there's no doubt that she will do the same once she becomes an NCO.”
The Air Force’s senior medical officer recognized these award-winning Airmen for their hard work and dedication to the mission.
“The amazing accomplishments of these award winners demonstrate expertise, leadership and commitment across the full range of the mission support provided to the Air Force and combatant commanders,” said Lt. Gen. Dorothy A. Hogg, U.S. Air Force Surgeon General.
