    Fort Stewart Public Affairs Office

The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield garrison tested a portion of their installation security plan by establishing barricades at several locations on the installation.

The Director of Emergency Services Physical Security Chief Donnie Daughtery said the exercise was held to test the ability to help mitigate a threat in case there ever was a real incident and to confirm the coordination between the installation’s Logistics Readiness Center, the Directorate of Public Works, and DES.

Testing portions of the installations security plan is only part of the effort to remain ready for contingencies.  Community members are also encouraged to keep an eye out.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, www.dhs.gov/see-something-say-something, communities across the nation have a need to remain vigilant during every day activities and a responsibility to say something if we see something, and to alert local law enforcement.

The Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security at Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield helps facilitate that effort through education.  It offers a resource center that provides preparedness and anti-terrorism awareness materials.

The resource center is available for information fairs, family readiness group meetings and unit training. For more information about the center, call 767-1109 or 767-4414.
