The course was instructed by Master Sgt. Charles Hamby, a bio-environmental technician assigned to the 168th Medical Group, is also a licensed BLS instructor through the Interior Region Emergency Medical Services counsel in Fairbanks, Alaska. Once successfully completed, participants received a two-year certification with the American Heart Association. The certification satisfies military requirements and is also transferable for civilian purposes. The AHA certification is recognized across the United States.
