    7th Army Training Command

The integrated personnel and pay system – Army (IPPS-A) is scheduled to be fielded to the entire Army in FY 2020 and the G-1 Strength Team at 7th Army Training Command is offering a half-day class to help Soldiers, leaders and human resource professionals prepare for the changes and benefits the new software system will bring.

The class will be held at the Grafenwoehr Theater March 7 from 0900 to 1130 and will educate attendees on what processes the new system will replace, how it will be a benefit to Soldiers of all ranks, and how it can benefit Army leaders.

According to the IPPS-A website, the system combines personnel and pay functions by replacing more than 40 human resources systems used by the Army with one web-based system that allows users greater control and visibility over their records and actions.

This consolidation of systems and processes will bring many benefits.

IPPS-A will allow Soldiers to view their Army records, initiate their own personnel actions while also giving them visibility on the status of those actions.

This increased level of access is one of the big benefits to the new system said the manager of the G-1 Strength Team, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Abyee Mallory.

“Soldiers can check their own personnel actions without having to call their S1 to inquire about them,” said Mallory. “They can just go on the site and see the status of their packet at any time and receive immediate information on the status of their actions no matter where they are or what time it is.”

IPPS-A will also give enlisted Soldiers more control over their careers by incorporating a feature, the 25-point profile, that is similar to the AIM system currently used for officers, said Mallory.

The 25 - point profile will coalesce the information the Army currently has for each Soldier while also allowing them to add self – professed attributes, giving Army leaders a holistic view of the knowledge, skills and experience each Soldier brings to the team.

Col. Gregory Johnson is the Functional Management Division chief for IPPS-A and presented information on the 25-point profile at the 2018 Annual Meeting and Exposition of the Association of the United States Army.

“We are going to coalesce the data that is out there on individuals and we are going to do that through the unveiling of what we call the 25 point profile,” Johnson said at the AUSA meeting. “The key here is that once you get the data together and organized, and you’re able to display it, you’re going to find out a whole heck of a lot about Soldiers that you have no clue about today. People have talents the Army has no idea (of).”

There is no registration required for the class. Anyone interested may show up the day of the event at the Grafenwoehr theater.
