Training Support Center Hampton Roads (TSCHR) announced its selection for the command's Bluejacket of the Quarter (BJOQ) Jan. 23.

Logistics Specialist Seaman Sigourney Goldsmith, of Mobile Alabama, was officially announced as TSCHR’s BJOQ for the first quarter, fiscal year 2019 at an all hands awards ceremony held at NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex.

Goldsmith played a vital role in providing logistical supply support to five TSCs and 34 learning sites by effectively processing over 100 open purchase requisitions and 150 repair parts valued over $1 million with zero discrepancies.

“After checking on board, she really hit the ground running,” said Brandi Harris, TSCHR Supply Officer/Supply Support Supervisor.

Goldsmith commented on how her selection as BJOQ further motivates her.
"I'm very proud to have won," said Goldsmith. "To be chosen by the board is a great honor, it's been my goal to win BJOQ since I arrived. Being Bluejacket reminds me of the standards I have to meet. I constantly want to grow in my career and having been recognized pushes me to do more."

During her off-duty time, Goldsmith is pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Arts Business Acquisition, Strayer University.

Goldsmith, who joined the Navy in 2018, said she plans to make the Navy a career.

“I would have to attribute my success to my family, my upbringing, pride in my work and my professional co-workers,” said Goldsmith.

The BJOQ award is awarded to those Sailors who stand out from the rest for their professional accomplishments, commitment to their job, and military bearing.
"I am very thankful for the recognition of all my hard work by my command and leadership," said Goldsmith.
