CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Colorado National Guard Soldiers will deploy, for the first time, as part of Cyber Protection Team 174 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The 169th Field Artillery Brigade, Colorado Army National Guard, will host a departure ceremony for Cyber Protection team 174, Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at CONG headquarters auditorium, 6848 S. Revere Parkway, Centennial, CO 80112.

“Our Colorado National Guard warfighters are deploying to conduct critical cyber operations,” The Adjutant General of Colorado U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael Loh said. “Their families and employers are making a great sacrifice so that our Soldiers can support joint military operations and national security objectives.”

CPT 174 is mobilizing for a year-long mission at Fort Meade, Maryland, where they will assist the Department of Defense with network security and cyber defensive operations.

Made up of Soldiers from Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Utah, CPT 174 will be a key player in today's broad and rapidly changing global cyber operational environment where the DoD and the nation are required to function within an increasingly competitive, congested, and contested cyberspace and electromagnetic spectrum.

Ultimately, the CPT174 will help to enable commanders and leaders to seize, retain and exploit freedom of action in both the land and cyberspace domains, while simultaneously denying and degrading the adversary’s use of the same.

National Guard cyber protection units are part of service-specific requirements to provide cyber capabilities.
