    807th Medical Command (Deployment Support)

SALT LAKE CITY – Command Sgt. Maj. Robert B. Breck will relinquish responsibilities as the 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support)’s Command Sergeant Major to Command Sgt. Maj. Marlo V. Cross in a ceremony to be held at 10:00 a.m. at the A. Ray Olpin University Union Building, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, Saturday, January 5, 2019.

“I joined the military right out of high school and never regretted my decision. Being part of the military as a combat military police (MP) officer, a logistical sergeant with deployment in support of Desert Shield and Storm, and being full time in the Utah Army National Guard helped prepare me for another career as a Trooper with the Utah Highway Patrol,” said Breck. “Serving both my state and my country at the same time gave me great opportunities to be successful in both careers. The experiences from the Highway Patrol prepared me for deployments in support of Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, and what I was to face over there. Serving has been my pleasure and honor; we have the greatest Nation in the world.”

“Command Sgt. Maj. Breck has been a pillar of strength at the 807th,” said Maj. Gen. Michael C. O’Guinn, the 807th MC(DS) Commanding General, “his leadership and example will be sorely missed.”

Breck graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and undergraduate certificates in Criminal Justice and Corrections. His military career began with the Arizona Army National Guard, 852nd MP Company, Yuma, Ariz., June 26, 1982. Transferring into the Army Reserve in 1997, he has served as the 807th MC (DS) Command Sergeant Major since August 9, 2014. Breck has recieved numerous military awards to include the distinguished Legion of Merit and Purple Heart. In 2007, Breck was also selected as the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce Non-Commissioned Officer of the year.

Breck served as a Utah State Trooper from August 12, 1994, to January 1, 2015, in Salt Lake and Davis County, retiring after 20 years of service. Breck is married to Michelle Jones and together they have raised nine children, six boys and three girls.

Cross, originally from Phoenix, Ariz., entered the Army Reserve as a Combat Medic with the 349th General Hospital, Los Angeles, Calif., in 1992. He has a doctorate in Education, a Masters in Leadership, a Bachelors in Criminal Justice, and is a member of Kappa Delta Phi - the education Honor society. Cross has received the Order of Military Medical Merit, and is an honorary inductee of the Sgt. Audie Murphy Club, among several other military awards. He is married to Yvonne Cross and together they have raised a daughter who works as a fashion stylist for Movies, Music Videos, Television shows, etc.

The 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support), is the largest medical command in the Army Reserve, responsible for managing all of the Army Reserve’s deployable field medical units from Ohio to California.
