    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Oklahoma City Recruiting Battalion Partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County

OKLAHOMA CITY – Recruiters from the 5th Recruiting Brigade, U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion – Oklahoma City and the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County meet with over 60 children at the Memorial Park Clubhouse to pass out gifts for the holiday season.

"What I’m hoping is, that from this point on is that if they see a military person, they aren’t scared to go up shake their hand, give them a high five,” said A. Jaye Johnson (A.J.), Sr. Director, Community Relations & Facilities. "It may inspire some of these kids to maybe one day join our armed services and I just hope this really inspires them!"

The Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County is expanding its facility to include a high school clubhouse. It can house up to 350 kids at any given time.

“It’s all about making great citizens, about making great decisions when they grow up,” said Lt. Col. John Garcia, Battalion Commander for the Oklahoma City Battalion, “I’ve seen great potential in the group, some said they want to be nurses, doctors and it’s important to foster an environment for them to become that.”

The internal toy drive began in Tulsa and the abundance of donations made it possible to share gifts with children in the Oklahoma City area.

The Oklahoma City Recruiting Battalion gladly partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County in giving gifts as a part of community outreach efforts.
