TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, FL, UNITED STATES

    12.17.2018

Story by Senior Airman Isaiah Soliz

    325th Fighter Wing

“When I was recalled initially I was ready for it. I was ready to get to work and get hands on with the part of the job that I really wanted to do, to be a part of that initial response. This is getting your hands dirty, the true medical portion of the job. I was actually shocked to get back and see the outlook, I didn’t recognize anything at first. I knew that there was so much going on that we were truly going to be in need so I knew this wasn’t going to be your everyday recall. This recall meant that they really needed me here to help get the ball rolling immediately when we got on the ground.
Since I returned to Tyndall in October the difference has been exponential. We started off in tents then moved into portable trailers. We made back into our facilities and we were able to keep a lot of our records. Not only from a medical standpoint but also the base as a whole, we have progressed a lot. They are starting to reopen a lot of services and facilities that allow our junior Airmen to have things to do and it helps build morale as a whole.
Being here I know that in the future I will be able to look back on life and be able to tell stories of Tyndall before, Tyndall now, and the Tyndall of the future. It’s something that will go down in the history books and I can say I was here for this moment. I can say I saw the base operate from a straight off the ground state, to building up to the new innovative state of Tyndall of the future. Hopefully I am still here to see that, it is going to be a great thing.”
(Staff Sgt. Dillon Wright, 325th Medical Operations Squadron medical technician)
