BEMOWO PISKIE, Poland – Not everyone gets to spend their Christmas at home with their family. The holidays can be a very difficult time for those that don’t. But it can be even more difficult for the families of children who must spend their summers, birthdays, and even Christmas in a hospital. Soldiers from Battle Group Poland spent the last two days reaching out to spread some holiday cheer to some of those families in a couple of the cities near Bemowo Piskie Training Area, here in Poland. Side by side, Battle Group Poland Soldiers from Romania, Croatia, United Kingdom, United States, and Poland lined up to give donated and bought gifts to children of all ages. From two years old to seventeen, Soldiers from Task Force Raider, 2/278th ACR, part of Battle Group Poland, passed out gifts to children who will spend their holidays away from home. Some gifts had to be placed in a room for parents to get later, for fear of influencing the immune system of some so sick. Tears were shed, smiles were shared, and memories were made as soldiers endeavored to give a little bit of Christmas joy to children.
