    Key Leader Engagement strengthens USACE building capacity

    The USACE Marmal Project Office participated in a Key Leader Engagement recently with the 2nd Brigade, 20th Pamir Division, 209th Corps Garrison Commander, COL Rahemhullah, out of Faizabad District (Badakhshan Province).
    CPT Nick Caesar, Detachment Commander, Marmal Project Office and Staff Sergeant Andrew Pretty, Detachment Sergeant, were joined by German Lieutenant Col Koester (Train Advise Assist Command-North Military Engineering (TAAC-N MILENG) for a discussion on the $18M base improvement project.
    The intent of the meeting was to discuss challenges of the upcoming project and to serve as an initial face-to-face meeting with the end user.
    The Faizabad team was fully advised to initiate development of a phasing plan to limit Operational Impacts. “We discussed project challenges, mitigation strategies, and validated project planning assumptions,” said Caesar. Great value was gained from this engagement.
    This meeting showcased the teamwork and the connective tissue between USACE, TAAC-N, and the 209th Corps leadership in the overarching goal of increasing operational capabilities of the Afghan National Army by providing quality facilities.
