FORT SHAFTER – Soldiers from the 18th Medical Command (Deployment Support) recently welcomed Brig Gen. Tracy Smith, during her inaugural unit address as commander at the Kyser Auditorium at the Tripler Army Medical Center.
During the unit address, Smith thanked the leaders and Soldiers of the Pacific Knights and discussed her mission as the new commander of the organization.
“I am truly thankful for your dedication and hard work which developed us into the team we are today,” said Smith. “I look forward to us continuing to meet our readiness goals and excelling as the Medical Theater Enabling Command for the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.”
Smith was the first Guamanian female to make the rank of general officer in the armed forces with her promotion in the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Service Corps.
Smith’s previous assignments include the Deputy Commanding General for Support, 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support), the Chief of Staff, Army Reserve Medical Command, Pinellas Park, FL, and she was the first Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) Commander of the 865th Combat Support Hospital, Utica, NY.
The 18th MEDCOM (DS) is the principal medical operations headquarters in the Pacific, strengthening the security and stability of our nation through trusted synchronization of Army Health System (AHS) support by, with, and through our joint and combined partners.
“I am so excited to be a part of this unit and amazing team,” said Smith. “My goal is to help us continue to get better as an organization."
