Salt Lake City, Utah – Col. Robert E. Suter will be promoted to Brigadier General in United States Army Reserve by Maj. Gen. Michael C. O’Guinn, commander of the 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support), in a ceremony to be held at the American College of Emergency Physicians, Irving, Texas, at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018.
Col.. Suter is the Deputy Commanding General at the 807th Medical Command (DS), Headquartered at Fort Douglas, Utah. He entered the Army Reserve in 1978 on a four year scholarship and commissioned upon graduation from Washington University, St. Louis. He has a graduate degree in healthcare administration at Des Moines University and commissioned into the Medical Corps in 1989. He reported to the Emergency Medicine Residency at Brooke Army Medical Center and then served as Chief, Department of ER Medicine and Acute Care, Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
In 1995, he transitioned into the U.S. Army Reserve and served in critical assignments in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Noble Eagle, Iraqi Freedom, Freedom Sentinel, Resolute Support, Spartan Shield, and contingency support for Operation Inherent Resolve.
The 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support), is the largest medical command in the Army Reserve, responsible for managing all of the Army Reserve’s deployable field medical units from Ohio to California. Providing general medical, surgical, dental, ambulance, behavioral health, preventive medicine, and veterinary support to military and civilian populations, the 807th Soldiers are a ready force for conducting military and humanitarian operations.
