HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- Religious leaders from Hill’s surrounding communities were recently treated to tour the base and some of its organizations.

The Nov. 7 visit was part of an annual base chapel event called Clergy Day, which is designed to strengthen ministry partnerships with nearby faiths and to expand spiritual support and services for Airmen stationed at Hill.

Chaplain (Capt.) Joseph Kim explained how bringing together military and civilian faith leadership is a benefit to the installation.

"The purpose of Clergy Day is to build bridges and network with local faith leaders of different religions and denominations,” Kim said. “That way, we as chaplains and religious affairs personnel can provide our Airmen with better spiritual care, as well as instant access to faith-based community resources.”

During the visit, the group received briefings and observed demonstrations in order to gain a better understanding of the demands placed on military and civilian Airmen working at the base.

“The goal here is to have community clergy visit our base where they can experience our mission and military environment first hand, with hopes that they are the then able to better understand how to serve and support our Airmen with pastoral care and religious accommodations,” Kim said.
