MUÑIZ AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Puerto Rico - Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David L.Goldfein and Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright visited the 156th Airlift Wing Saturday and shared with Airmen the latest Air Force guidance and their roles in the Total Force.

“Your generational heritage, your unique bilingual skills and your strategic location as the nexus between USNORTHCOM and USSOUTHCOM make you an important asset within our Total Force,” said Goldfein.

“I’m very proud of our Airmen and the motivation they displayed during their time with General Goldfein and Command Chief Master Sgt. Wright,” said Col. Raymond Figueroa, 156th Airlift Wing commander. “They demonstrated the spirit and professionalism of the Bucaneros and their strong desire to execute the mission."

During the tour of Muñiz, Gen. Goldfein, CMSgt Wright and CMSgt Manny Piñeiro, U.S. Air Force First Sergeant, Career Field Manager, who was born in Puerto Rico, ate lunch with Airmen at Airmen’s Plaza, fielded questions and coined a handful of outstanding performers for their excellence amongst their peers.

Airmen’s Plaza is the temporary Muñiz Dining Facility being utilized while construction is underway of the Composite Support Facility. Members of the 156th briefed the Chiefs on the progress of the base infrastructure, which includes the remodeling of the CSF, initially constructed in 1964 and damaged during Hurricane Maria, with expected completion by June 2019 at an estimated cost of $5.4 million. For fiscal year 2018 alone, over 15 million dollars have been invested in PRANG infrastructure improvements, with over 65 million programmed within the next two years.

Gen. Goldfein also met with squadron commanders and CMSgt. Wright met with chief master sergeants during the visit as they continue to promote leadership, authority and accountability at levels that have the greatest impact on our Airmen.
