Donovan Field becomes the hub for family fun, today through Monday when Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield holds its annual Fall Carnival and Trunk or Treating event.

Experience the flavors of the installation’s Oktoberfest celebration. Funnel cakes, rides for all ages, games of chance, and a performance by the 3rd Infantry Division Band are some of the treats available.

The Fall Carnival will kick-off the week of fun on Thursday with a host of rides and skill games. “Our fall Carnival will have at least 13 spectacular rides that are great fun for adults and teens,” said Cara Bates, Special Events Coordinator for Directorate of Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation. “We will also have at least seven rides specifically for small children, and five rides for families to enjoy together.”

The one-night Oktoberfest celebration begins tomorrow, 6-10 p.m., under the carnival fest tent and includes a keg tap¬ping, German food, beer, music by the 3rd ID Band, and a Mr. and Mrs. Octoberfest contest. Contestants are asked to dress in costume and will be judged for that and their chicken dance, a stein hold, a keg toss for men, a stein grab for women.

The surrounding community is invited to join the fun. Gate 3 will be open each night off Old Sunbury Road.

Carnival hours are 5-10 p.m. tonight, 5 p.m. to midnight tomorrow, Saturday from noon to midnight and Sunday from 1-7:30 p.m.
