Kandahar Resident Office was on a mission on Patriot Day to provide USACE personnel on Kandahar with flags flown over the resident office in Afghanistan.
Active duty firefighter in the U. S. Army and Detachment Sergeant Michael Pineda joined forces with Kandahar Detachment Commander Lt. Col. Malia Pearson to conduct a U. S. Flag Raising and Lowering ceremony on 9/11.
The Kandahar Resident Office was the ideal setting for the procedures at the flag pole. A total of twelve U. S. flags were flown on this day at the USACE Kandahar location in Afghanistan.
USACE personnel requested to have flags flown over the USACE Transatlantic Kandahar Resident Office compound in order to provide special patriotic gifts for friends and family. The Kandahar Resident Office command personnel ensured the proper respect and protocols were followed. Each flag will have a certificate stating that it was flown on 9/11 on Kandahar.
The Flag Flying Operations will be available to USACE personnel on Kandahar as requested.
