On September 8, 2018 the 130th Airlift Wing held a graduation ceremony for 43 recipients of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) associate degree in various subjects.

The 130 AW has produced more than 200 CCAF graduates, with this class more than four times larger than the 2017 class.

Col. Michael Cadle, 130th Airlift Wing Vice Wing Commander attended and handed out the degrees after giving a speech about the importance of furthering education beyond what is expected of the Air Force.

“It is great to see our enlisted force become more educated and better leaders,” said Cadle. “This is a prime example of the hard work and dedication our Airmen have in the 130th.”

The CCAF is a federally charted degree-granting institution that serves the United States Air Force's enlisted personnel. They partner with more than 108 affiliated Air Force schools, 82 Education Service Offices located worldwide and more than 1,500 civilian academic institutions to serve more than 300,000 active, guard and reserve enlisted personnel, making CCAF the world's largest community college system. Annually, the college awards more than 22,000 associate in applied science degrees from 68 degree programs.

Established April 1, 1972, the CCAF has awarded more than 335,000 associate in applied science degrees and students have earned more than 1.6 million hours of college credit. CCAF is the only institution of its kind in the U.S. military – a fully accredited college authorized to award college degrees to enlisted personnel.

“We are honored to have so many hard working, motivated Airmen in our organization,” said Col. Johnny Ryan, Wing Commander, 130th Airlift Wing. “These men and women went above and beyond making time in between their personal and professional lives to make this happen, congratulations to you all.”
