WIESBADEN, Germany – U.S. Army Europe bid a fond farewell to Chief of Staff German Brig. Gen. Kai Rohrschneider on Aug. 30.
U.S. Army Europe Commanding General Lt. Gen. Christopher Cavoli thanked Rohrschneider for his tireless work during his time at the headquarters.
“Saying good bye to Kai Rohrschneider will not be easy, because he is an officer of the highest caliber” said Cavoli, “he is an officer who has served us magnificently as the second German chief of staff in this command.”
Cavoli awarded Rohrschneider the American Legion of Merit for his dedication to building strong bonds between American and German forces.
“I’m extremely thankful for the trust you put in to me, although my idea of being a chief of staff and your idea of commanding United States Army Europe is not fully synchronized.” Rohrschneider said “I know that is not easy but I am extremely grateful for two commanders who really said don’t worry, we will work with that. That was a great pleasure for me.”
Rohrschneider became the chief of staff of U.S. Army Europe on Jan. 26, 2017. His next assignment is the chief of staff at the Joint Multinational Command in Ulm, Germany.
