The power production technicians worked in several areas throughout the training site. They worked on machines such as the mobile aircraft arresting system (MAAS) and Basic expeditionary airfield resources (BEAR).
“We have been able to work on some huge 800 kW generators, which was new for me because they are not available in the home unit,” said Senior Airman Austin Fabio, a power production technician from 285th Civil Engineer Squadron.
“The instructors explain everything to us on power points before we got to do any kind of hands on training, said Tech Sgt. Raymond Williams, a power production technician and noncommissioned officer in charge. “We can work on just about anything with engines.”
The airmen worked on synchronizing the MAAS so that it will be jets to use in case of emergency landing.
At some point they worked hand in hand with the electrical systems technicians to get generators and other machines up and running.
285th will be doing a series of training throughout their time at the site. The training site is a great refresher course for the airmen who have an upcoming deployment.
