As the third most populous city in Florida, Tampa offers a variety of recreational opportunities, a diverse culture and a vibrant nightlife. And with this enticing entertainment culture, comes the temptation of making regrettable decisions.
The Joint Services Against Drunk Driving service kicks off Aug. 17, 2018, with a goal of providing all Department of Defense members of MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, a safe way home.
JSADD offers a free, anonymous and safe alternate mode of transportation for those who have been drinking and are unable to secure a ride home, helping prevent incidents involving driving under the influence with a single phone call.
“Reigniting JSADD stems from our culture of teamwork and innovation,” said Chief Master Sgt. Sarah Sparks, the 6th Air Mobility Wing Command Chief. “It is remarkable to see junior enlisted across the DOD joining together to ensure the well-being of our most vital resource – our men and women in uniform.”
This Airmen-run service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and it covers the areas of South Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Brandon and Riverview.
Even the best plan is subject to change, which is why JSADD should be used as a last resort after a plan falls through, not as a taxi service.
