KIHEI, Hawaii -  Lt. Trina Price, a chaplain with the Navy Reserves, offers spiritual care during Tropic Care Maui County 2018.

Set up at Saint Theresa's Church in Kihei, Hawaii, joint forces from all branches of the military, both active duty and reserves have joined forces to offer medical and spiritual care services to Maui County. As part of a joint forces team of chaplains and chaplain assistants from the Air National Guard and Navy Reserves, Lt. Price, from the Navy Reserves Expeditionary Medical Force (EMF) Dallas 1 Headquarters, offers spiritual care during Tropic Care Maui County 2018.

Tropic Care Maui County 2018 is a joint-service Innovative Readiness Training mission led by the Air National Guard and supported by members of the Air Force, Army, Navy Reserve, and Marine Corps Reserve. Health clinics at Central Maui, Kihei, Lahaina, Hana, Molokai, and Lanai will run from August 11-19, providing medical, dental, and vision services at no cost. Tropic Care Maui County 2018 provides medical troops and support personnel "hands-on" readiness training to prepare for future deployments while providing direct and lasting benefits to the people of Maui, Molokai, and Lanai.

In the Navy Reserves, Price, oversees chaplain care services for multiple detachments scattered around the Southwest region, as well as the Midwest and
California. The EMFs are self-contained medical units prepared and ready to set up medical hospitals for forward deployed individuals. This mission
lines up perfectly with the Tropic Care Maui County 2018 mission. "We are here in Maui as a part of a humanitarian mission in addition to a training exercise for us," Price said.

"I feel blessed to be selected to be a part of this. In addition to being great training for us, because this is in line with our mission of providing medical care for our troops, this gives us an opportunity in this mission to provide care for the community while still getting very valuable training," said Price.

"Partnering with the community and Saint Theresa's Church has been awesome. They already provide such a vibrant ministry to the community and so many
services to the people," Price said. "Working with them has been absolutely fantastic."

Lt. Price has served as a chaplain with the Navy Reserves for 10 years. She started her career as an enlisted member in the Active Duty Navy, achieving the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class before joining the chaplain corp. In her civilian job Price is a hospital chaplain. "I've found that hospital chaplaincy is the lane that best lines up with my role in the military, which is ministry in crisis," Price said.

In her free time, Price enjoys movies, traveling, and is a self-proclaimed foodie. "Traveling for work offers me the chance to try new foods everywhere I go," Price said.
