Operations Specialist 1st Class Ellis L. Taylor Jr., Leading Petty Officer, Student Management, Norfolk Site, was selected as the Sailor of the Quarter (SOQ). Intelligence Specialist 2nd Class Lauren E. Boyd, Legal Hold Supervisor, Dam Neck (DN), was selected as Junior SOQ (JSOQ). Logistics Specialist Seaman Kelby L. Kindelsperger, Supply Technician, DN, was selected as Bluejacket of the Quarter (BJOQ).

“Our office was very excited to learn of my award,” said Taylor. “My selection as SOQ is a direct reflection of the hard work that we do in Student Management and this award shows that it does not go unnoticed.”

Taylor, 31, a native of York, Alabama joined the Navy in 2011. “I believe anywhere you go in life, it’s so very important to treat people with dignity and the utmost respect. This comes into play ensuring sailors are taken care of,” said Taylor.

Boyd, 28, a native of Granville County, North Carolina, joined the Navy in 2012. Prior to joining TSCHR, she was assigned to the Fleet Intelligence Detachment Washington, D.C.

“I was very surprised to learn that I was named JSOQ,” said Boyd. “I think a lot of TSC sailors do outstanding work and this award demonstrates motivation to the entire legal team. I was raised to push past the limits and taught no matter what the task, you always give it your best,” said Boyd.

Petty Officer Boyd’s ultimate goal is to return sea and work in her rate.

In 2017, Kindelsperger joined the TSCHR team. He provided a vital role in providing logistics support to five TSC offices and 34 Learning Sites by effectively processing over 90 requisitions valued at $83,000 with zero discrepancies.

Kindelsperger is originally from Port Byron, Illinois and he has future plans to move to his home state to be with his daughter, work in construction and farm.

Kindelsperger joined the Navy to try something different saying, “You don’t know what something is like until you try it.”

The TSCHR SOQ program is designed to recognize and reward the performance and dedication of outstanding enlisted Sailors.
