28th Infantry Division, Task Force Spartan

AMMAN, Jordan – A California Army National Guard unit transferred authority of its Middle East mission to another unit from the same brigade during a ceremony July 12, 2018. The 1st Battalion, 184th Infantry Regiment handed its mission to the 1st Squadron, 18th Cavalry Regiment.
Both units are part of the 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. The 1-184th’s commander and command sergeant major, Lt. Col. Phillip Armstrong and Command Sgt. Maj. Travis Armstrong, respectively, cased the 1-184th’s unit colors while the incoming leaders, Lt. Col. Jeramy Hopkins, and Command Sergeant Major Luis Ferretti, unfurled the 1-18th’s unit colors to mark this milestone in the unit’s year-long deployment. The 1-18th will serve under the 155th Armor Brigade Combat Team, Mississippi National Guard – as part of Task Force Spartan – for its deployment.
The Jordan Operational Engagement Program (JOEP) is the largest training program funded by the Counter Terrorism Partnership Fund and now what is known as 10 USC Section 333. The U.S. is committed to advising and assisting Jordan in its battle to defend the country against ISIS and any other violent extremist organization that may threaten the safety of its people.
