The most impressive part about the Army is the individual Soldier. The individual Soldier will be the one that supports our missions, goals and objectives. Even with sophisticated technology and advanced equipment, a military cannot fight, sustain and win a war without well trained and disciplined Soldiers.

The U.S. Army has a long standing history of educating the enlisted Soldier and entrusting them with the duties and responsibilities of deterring our enemies from war while training them to defeat that same enemy on the battlefield if necessary. Our enlisted Soldiers are the most lethal and well trained in the history of our Army. They are assigned at all levels of responsibility to plan and conduct unit training that will enhance leadership skills and warfighting functions. Our Soldiers are well equipped to follow, lead and manage situations at all levels of command.

The Army continues to invest in the enlisted corps to build highly skilled leaders who can communicate effectively and build a winning team in peacetime operations or in a combat situation. The Army leadership has focused on formally educating our enlisted Soldier so they can better understand their own potential and abilities. The enlisted education system is designed to help individuals visualize, analyze, and adapt to today's Operational Environment. Our enlisted Soldiers develop these skills through shared ideas, experiences, and working together as a team. Soldiers in the Army today are critical thinkers who are trained to make sound tactical decisions at the lowest levels.

Over the years we have seen changes in the Army, in our equipment, weapons, vehicles and uniforms, the one thing that has not changed is the importance of Soldier readiness. All units in the Army, across all three components, must be ready to deploy and engage the enemy with overwhelming force when called upon. The Army recognizes that in order to meet this demand we must build and maintain the most professional, well trained and educated force possible. Good Soldiers are not just born, they are trained and grown through hard work and strong leadership.
