    3rd Marine Logistics Group

CAMP FOSTER, OKINAWA, Japan – Col. Ronald C. Braney relinquished command of 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force to Brig. Gen. Keith D. Reventlow during a transfer of command ceremony June 29, 2018 at Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan.

Braney assumed command of 3rd MLG June 1, 2018, the culmination to his four-year tour in Okinawa after previously serving as the commanding officer of Combat Logistics Regiment 35 and later as the 3rd MLG chief of staff. Uniquely, throughout his career, he has served under the past six MLG commanding generals in various capacities.

“There are 20 general officers whose pictures are hanging on the wall on our command deck,” Braney said. “They represent the legacy and accomplishment that have made this MLG the great organization that it is today […] And these Marines (of 3rd MLG), they’re the reason I serve. I am honored to be their former commanding officer, if only for a short time. These are the future leaders of our Corps, and I am proud to have been their commanding officer, so thank you very much.”

Reventlow served as the Assistant Deputy Commandant, Installations and Logistics (Plans) in Washington, D.C. before his appointment as commanding general of 3rd MLG.

“It is an honor and a privilege to serve alongside you all and to be your commander,” said Reventlow. “I had the opportunity to sit down with some former commanders and talk about 3rd MLG. They all said the same thing: ‘great opportunity,’ ‘you’re going to love it,’ ‘best command tour.’ They had nothing but great things to say about it, so I’m excited for that.”

Lt. Gen. Lawrence D. Nicholson, commanding general of III Marine Expeditionary Force, praised Braney’s hard work and leadership of 3rd MLG in the rapidly shifting political climate of the Indo-Pacific region. He commended Reventlow’s previous work at the Pentagon and welcomed him to the command.

“We need a leader that has agility and the innovation to keep up in an ever-changing geopolitical environment, but most importantly, a leader that leads a great team able to sustain in operations across the entire Indo-Asia Pacific,” said Nicholson. “So, Keith, welcome aboard. We are honored to have you join our great team.”
