Michigan National Guard Soldiers Conduct Enhanced Convoy Escort Training

    GRAYLING, MICHIGAN, UNITED STATES

    06.09.2018

    Story by Sgt. Savannah Baldwin

    1463rd Transportation Company

The CETs completed the equivalent of several months’ worth of training in just 6 long days. The CETs received training on identifying both enemy and friendly vehicles, weapon systems, simulation training, and live fire exercises along with assembly, disassembly and functions checks of their weapons.

"These soldiers are smart, they're efficient and they're going to become great leaders," Said Cpt. A.J. Malenfant, the commander of the 1463rd Transportation Company.

Each Convoy Escort team had the opportunity to distinguish themselves by scoring 900 or more points during the gunnery phase of their training. One of the teams that distinguished themselves consisted of only lower enlisted Soldiers. They finished the range with a score of 975 out of 1,000.

"In my mind failure was not an option," Pfc. Cindy C. Choang said, "We all wanted to succeed and show everyone that it could be done"

During the Convoy Escort Team training many members of the CETs were taken outside of their comfort zones and relied heavily on teamwork to accomplish missions, learn new skills and duty positions.
