Lt. Col. Chris Panush turned over command of the Washington Air National Guard’s 194th Logistics Readiness Squadron to Maj. Tyrone Clark during a ceremony at Camp Murray on June 2. Panush led the squadron since November 2015, and Clark previously served as director of plans and programs for the Washington Air National Guard. The LRS focuses on preparing and mobilizing members of the 194th Wing for domestic operations as well as overseas deployments.
“You’ve all done amazing things over the past few years,” Panush wrote in a farewell letter to his Airmen. “We’ve supported federal taskings like never before, both internally deploying our LRS members as well as supporting our Wing brothers and sisters while they deploy.” Col. Lawrence Hager, commander of the 194th Mission Support Group, presented federal and state Meritorious Service Medals to Panush and recognized his work to mobilize Airmen for the Highway 530 Landslide, Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake preparation, and recent wildfires.
Panush will go on to serve as the Washington National Guard’s J4 director of logistics.
Clark has “a depth of domestic operations experience that’s almost unparalleled,” said Hager. Clark said that he has been impressed by the Airmen of the LRS and their “sense of pride about facilities, about equipment, about the way they carried themselves….You could tell they were really a team.”
