    621st Contingency Response Wing

JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Col. Ryan T. Marshall assumed command of the 621st Contingency Response Wing during a change of command ceremony here June 21. Maj. Gen. Christopher Bence, U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center commander, presided over the ceremony in which Col. Charles Henderson relinquished command of the 621 CRW to Marshall.

Marshall, who previously served as the Director of Operations, Logistics, Plans & Strategy at the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center here, now leads the 621 CRW, a highly-specialized unit trained to rapidly deploy personnel, quickly open airfields and establish, expand, sustain, and coordinate air mobility operations around the world.

"Under Colonel Henderson’s command, you [the 621 CRW] have nailed the priorities that he established and you’ve executed without flaw" Bence said. "Our Devil Raiders have done amazing things and their efforts have gotten high level recognition, not only within Air Mobility Command, but the highest levels of our United States Air Force."

Since Henderson assumed command of the CRW in June 2016, contingency response wing Airmen have supported world-wide contingencies and humanitarian operations with more than 900 deployments to 78 countries in support of five geographic combatant commands around the world.

"As Colonel Marshall begins to take command of the 621st Contingency Response Wing…I have no doubt you will have a busy couple years,” Bence said.“You have the playbook and I’m confident you are prepared and ready to respond not if, but when the Devil Raiders are called into action.”

During the ceremony, Bence commended both Henderson and Marshall for their teamwork and dedicated leadership to the men and women of the 621 CRW and U.S Air Force Expeditionary Center respectively.
Henderson, who was awarded the Legion of Merit during the ceremony for his command of the wing over the past two years, stated the Devil Raider Airmen were superbly led by their Senior NCO’s and commanders.

“Two years ago I told you [the men and women of the CRW] my priorities and first and foremost I said we would safely and effectively execute our mission,” Henderson said. “You absolutely succeeded in this priority.”

Marshall took time to thank all parties involved with organizing the change of command ceremony, with a special thanks to Maj. Gen. Bence for presiding over the ceremony and to Col. Henderson for the state in which he leaves the wing.

Upon assuming command, Marshall expressed his commitment to the men and women of the 621 CRW.

“To the men and women of the 621st CRW, you are an elite organization with an incredible mission,” Marshall said “From air advising joint integration to theater wide command and control, air base opening you are second to none. I’m honored to be associated with you, and it’s a privilege to serve you, may God continue to bless the 621st CRW and the United States of America.”
