The Child Development Center observed National Flag Day during their Eighth Annual Flag Day Picnic, June 14 from 4 to 5 p.m.
“I enjoyed the fellowship with the other parents from my son’s class,” said Staff Sgt. Stefanie Dahl, a 28th Medical Group dental hygienist. “I’m glad the CDC stepped up to educate the children about the importance of our nation’s flag.”
The intent of the picnic was to honor the flag, and give parents the opportunity to socialize with families who have made a similar commitment to our nation’s flag.
“I think it’s important that the parents get to actually sit down and meet one another instead of just seeing one another in passing as they drop off and pick up [their children].” said Susan Ratkovsky, Ellsworth Child Development Center director.
The event concluded with those in uniform rendering a salute while those in civilian attire stood with their hands over their heart for the daily playing of the Star Spangled Banner.
