Soldiers from 226th CSC us the Army's Tactical Water Purification System, or TWPS to meet the demands of clean water during Saber Strike 18.

“The system we are using here at Adazi is highly effective in its purpose,” said Staff Sgt. Christopher Dotson, the water purification noncommissioned officer in charge assigned to 226th CSC. “With this system, we are able to find a body of water and make it safe for use. Soldiers can use the water we purify here for an variety of activities to include laundry, showering and consumption.”

After the water is processed through the TWPS, chemicals are added to make the water safe for use.

The water is tested hourly to ensure the pH balance and temperature are in acceptable ranges.

“During training events like Saber Strike 18, drinkable water is always in high demand,” said Spc. Clint Radcliff, water treatment specialist with 226th CSC. “Because of that, we work at maximum effort to make sure that the demands are met and the soldiers training out there are able to stay properly hydrated and safe.”

Exercise Saber Strike 18 is a long-standing U.S. Army Europe-led exercise in it's eighth year.

Saber Strike 18 is a cooperative training event designed to enhance the readiness and interoperability with NATO allies and its regional partners.

While the majority of Soldiers participating in Saber Strike train in open areas such as ranges, the soldiers of the 226th CSC find themselves deep in the wood-line out of the eyes of many.

“We may be behind the scenes,” said Dotson. “But what we do here matters, providing this life sustaining resource to the men and women training to strengthen our security is a mission my Soldiers and myself take serious. Train hard, drink water.”
