SAN DIEGO– Four students graduated from the International Maritime Intelligence Course (IMIC) at Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) San Diego, May 18.

IMIC is an unclassified course designed to provide foundational intelligence training to international junior officers in the equivalent grades of O1-O4. Upon completion, graduates are able to provide intelligence support to naval operations and planning in both afloat and ashore environments.

“This course is good for strengthening diplomacy between our nations,” said Lt. Muhd Ulin Nuha Bin Md Razeef of the Royal Malaysian Navy.

“I learned many things in this class,” said 2nd Lt. Siewradj Roy Soekhoe of the Suriname Navy. “This is my first time doing anything in intelligence and I feel much more prepared to do my job after this course.”

More than 25 students, primarily international intelligence officers, graduate from the three-week IMIC course each year.

“It was great to have distinct geographic regions represented in this iteration of IMIC,” shared Lt. Joseph Chua, who instructs the course. “Although it was a small group, it was helpful to observe different perspectives on the maritime domain across various navies.”

IWTC San Diego, as part of the Center for Information Warfare Training, provides a continuum of training to Navy and joint service personnel that prepares them to conduct information warfare across the full spectrum of military operations.
