BAGHDAD, Iraq – Iraqi army soldiers found a magnetic improvised explosive device in Baghdad's Rashid District Dec 13.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 24th Brigade, 6th IA Division, found a magnetic IED attached to the gate surrounding the residence of a neighborhood advisory councilman in the Saydiyah community.
Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers from Company B, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, confirmed the device.
The Baghdad Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit detonated the device on site.
"The Iraqi soldiers do not tolerate criminal activity in Baghdad's Rashid District," said Maj. Dave Olson, spokesman, 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div. "The combined operations conducted by Raider Brigade Soldiers and the Iraqi security forces are making a big difference for the 1.6 million residents living in southern Baghdad as life is returning to normal."
