    Story by Lt. Mary Smith

    Commander Task Force 75

SANTA RITA, Guam – Lt. Cmdr. Edward Yandoc relieved Cmdr. Brent Embry as officer in charge (OIC) of Coastal Riverine Group (CRG) 1 Det. Guam at Asan Beach War Memorial, on May 4.
Embry assumed duties as OIC in July 2015 and has since ensured critical Embarked Security Team capability and capacity was available to support Special Mission Ship operations in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations, while at the same time integrated and employed the Navy’s newest combatant, the Mark VI Patrol Boat.
“As your operational commander, you have made my job easy, always ensuring that we were able to meet 7th Fleet, and higher headquarters tactical, operational and strategic objectives and tasking,” said Capt. Robert Baughman, Commander Task Force (CTF) 75 and the ceremony guest speaker. “You have built a solid team and foundation that can sustain and build upon what you have created, continue to provide timely and relevant combat power, and also continue to validate Navy Expeditionary Combat Force requirements.”
CRG provides a core capability to defend designated high value assets throughout the green and blue-water environment and provides deployable Adaptive Force Packages (AFP) worldwide in an integrated, joint and combined theater of operations.
Embry also retired during the change of charge ceremony with 22 years of military service.
“CDR Embry has had a phenomenal career that has spanned over 2 decades and that has taken himself and his family across the globe,” said Baughman. “In addition to your hard work and sacrifice here in Guam Brent, I’d like to also take this opportunity to personally thank you for 22 years of faithful and honorable service to the Air Force and Navy.”
Capt. Stanfield Chien, commander of Coastal Riverine Group (CRG) 1, and Embry’s immediate supervisor, presented the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (third award) to Embry during the ceremony. Embry then handed over the OIC duties to Yandoc. Yandoc initially reported to CRG 1 Det. Guam in October 2015 where he has been serving as the assistant officer in charge.
