The United States Army Garrison Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield conducted an organization day April 27 at Holbrook Pond.
The Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation Outdoor Recreation facility was ideal for the event as its facilities included several large enclosed picnic pavilions, volleyball and basketball courts, canoe, kayak and paddle boats, an a stocked pond with plenty of fishing opportunities.
Team building activities included basketball, corn-hole, card and board games and more.
Lunch catered by Club Stewart and a dunking booth with opportunities to sink the Garrison Commander, Col. Jason Wolter, the garrison executive officer, Charles (Wes) Stephens, and the Director of Family Morale, Welfare were other morale boosting activities.
“Everyone has been working real hard,” Stephens said. “It was great to see everyone outside enjoying the warm weather – having fun together. I had a real blast.”
Other facilities at Holbrook available and the installation’s outdoor recreation facilities, though not used during the organizational day, include primitive and recreational vehicle camping, equipment rentals, paint ball privately owned vehicle storage, shooting sports, Warrior Adventure Quest activities, pet care and dog-park, and more.
Fort Stewart’s MWR website notes reservations for Holbrook can be made up to 30 days in advance with a one day deposit. Reservations and check-ins are completed at the Low Country Adventure Center. Check out their website at https://stewart.armymwr.com.
