BERLIN -- Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 214th Aviation Regiment, and 1st Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade displayed one CH-47F Chinook helicopter and an AH-64 Apache helicopter for the Innovation and Leadership in Aerospace conference and air show, here, 25-29 April, at the Berlin-Schonefeld Airport.
The ILA Berlin Air Show provides industry professionals, government officials, and aviation enthusiasts the opportunity to view aircraft up close and personal and to interact with pilots and crew members. The German Armed Forces also displayed numerous military vehicles and aircraft to include an aerial demonstration of their NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopter.
Events like the ILA Air Show provide an excellent opportunity for Soldiers to interact with community members that are unfamiliar with the presence of U.S. Soldiers in Europe. It also allows our Soldiers time to explain how the 12th CAB and the Regionally Allocated Aviation forces operate throughout Europe with our NATO allies and partner nations.
The first three days consisted of a trade show where members of the media and the aviation industry took an up close look at the newest in aerospace technology. The final two days were open to the public.
The display also included two Air Force F-35A Lightening II, a CV-22 Osprey, and a host of other rotary and fixed wing aircraft.
