Story by Staff Sgt. Shaiyla Hakeem

    354th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment

U.S. Army paratroopers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade performed assault training maneuvers at Hohenfels, Germany as part of the Joint Warfighting Assessment (JWA) 18. This multi-day training mission began Tuesday with an air assault, followed by field training, and ended today with a battle to defeat simulated enemy forces and secure an air strip to use as a safe landing zone for incoming comrades.
Safe passage was ensured by use of tanks, armored personnel carriers and ground troops into unknown territory. JWA includes unit training objectives to improve unit readiness through rigorous, realistic training against a certified opposing force.
This exercise helps the Army evaluate emerging concepts, integrate new technologies, and promote interoperability between the Army, other services, and U.S. allies and partners.
