BAGHDAD – Iraqi national police and Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers detained five suspected terrorists and special groups criminals in Baghdad Dec. 8-9.
Policemen with the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 1st National Police Division, arrested two suspected al Qaida in Iraq members east of Baghdad at approximately 6:30 a.m., Dec. 8. The two are suspected of being members of an improvised explosive device cell in Samadiyah, southeast of Baghdad.
The same day, Soldiers with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, detained a suspected special group leader at 8:30 a.m. in Kadamiyah. The suspect is believed to lead a special group cell responsible for attacks on coalition forces, primarily improvised explosive devices and explosively formed penetrators.
Soldiers serving with Troop C, 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, detained two more suspects just after midnight, Dec. 9, in eastern Rashid. The two are alleged to have involvement in indirect fire attacks.
