U.S NAVAL BASE GUAM (NNS) Deputy Commander, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, Rear Adm. Rodney DeWalt visited Commander, Task Force (CTF) 75 on Naval Base Guam (NBG) April 15-18 to meet and speak with Sailors from the different units under CTF 75.
CTF 75 is the primary expeditionary task force responsible for the planning and execution of coastal riverine operations, explosive ordnance disposal, diving and engineering construction, and underwater construction in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.
While on NBG, DeWalt received tours of CTF 75 headquarters, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 11, Det. Guam, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5, Navy Cargo Handling Battalion 1 Hatch Team, Coastal Riverine Squadron 4, Det. Guam, and Coastal Riverine Group (CRG) 1, Det. Guam
DeWalt's goal during his visit was to obtain a better understanding of expeditionary Sailors day-to-day work and needs.
"I think getting eyes, ears, and feet on the property is important to gain a sense of perspective you don't get from teleconference calls, " said DeWalt. "I'm glad I had the opportunity to see the vastness of the equipment and its condition and get a feel for the Sailors morale and their thoughts and lessons learned. Being here in person is an irreplaceable experience."
CTF 75/Navy Expeditionary Forces Command Pacific was established in Guam to streamline command and control of Navy Expeditionary Combat Forces within the 7th Fleet area of operations to better support missions in the Indo-Pacific region.
