Joint military exercise provides care for underserved regions of the Northwest Alaska
Kotzebue, Alaska- A contingent of United States military and coalition personnel will establish Arctic Care 2018, an Innovative Readiness Training Exercise based out of Kotzebue, Alaska, on Monday, April 16.
Reservists of all branches of the United States Armed Forces, along with Alaska Army National Guard and Canadian Forces, will provide medical, dental, optometry and veterinary care for underserved communities in the Maniillaq Service Area through April 24.
The joint and multi-national personnel participating in Arctic Care will also conduct critical mission training and logistical movements to maintain currency needed to support future military/civilian humanitarian operations.
With the coordination of local, municipal, and civil authorities, the exercise will continue to build on the long-standing tradition of the U.S. Armed Forces addressing the underserved community heath and civic needs of the Northwest Arctic Borough.
