CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait — The Zone 6 Chapel here was closed through February 2018 due to damage caused during a flood last year. The water deteriorated the foundation and caused ripples to the wood floor. Renovations included updates to the supporting structure as well as new flooring and new walls to provide extra space to the rear of the chapel. On March 30, the ribbon-cutting ceremony took place to commemorate the renovation.
Chaplain (Lt. Col.) George Wallace serves as the Area Support Group-Kuwait Command Chaplain. He provides Title X Free Exercise of Religion for more than 16,000 authorized personnel in support of U.S. Army Central, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve, and integrates religious support activities for more than 100,000 personnel moving through Kuwait annually to camps Arifjan, Buehring and Patriot.
“My office resources the chapels, prepares them and ensures they are maintained,” said Wallace. “It’s a priority to have an adequate, serviceable chapel here in Zone 6. A huge part of the population lives in Zone 6; therefore, it’s very important to have a chapel that is near where the soldiers reside.”
